Darren Edwards, Sytner Group, CEO
Starting out in the industry in 1984 as an apprentice technician, Darren joined the Sytner Group in 2004 as a sales director in the BMW Division, rising to become group CEO, 10 years later.
Since becoming CEO, Darren’s strategic thinking and passion for the business has seen the Sytner Group grow to become the UK’s largest dealer group, with revenues of just under £6bn from its premium band portfolio and standalone used car business, CarShop.
A keen cyclist and self-confessed petrol-head, Darren spends his spare time pursuing both hobbies and enjoying precious time with his family.
Bill Berman, Pendragon, CEO
Bill Berman is the chief executive officer of Pendragon, one of the UK’s leading automotive retail groups, having overall responsibility for the strategic direction of the company, its 6,000 associates and the operational performance of over 150 franchise locations.
Bill assumed the role of CEO in February 2020, having initially joined the company as non-executive director in April 2019 and acted as interim executive chairman from October 2019 providing leadership and direction to the company.
Prior to joining Pendragon, Bill served as president and chief operating officer of AutoNation, the largest automotive retailer in America, where he was responsible for over 26,000 Associates and more than 300 vehicle franchises.
His knowledge of the industry supported by his 30 years’ experience in automotive retail makes him a regular commentator on industry news and topics.
Catherine Faiers, Auto Trader, COO
Al Clarke, programme host, Auto Retail Network
Al has held senior executive roles with Ferrari, Maserati and the SMMT. Al started his career as a journalist and presenter with a decade working for the BBC and in commercial radio. He has a particular interest in the application of digital technology and connected car services in the automotive industry and regularly speaks at, and chairs events on, these issues.
