Used car guru Cliff Deller leaves Inchcape

  28 January 2018

Cliff Deller, one of the UK’s best known used car specialists, has left Inchcape after 35 years’ service.

Mr Deller worked in various management positions, including as group used car director and was on the executive board.

Speaking exclusively to Auto Retail Agenda, he said he was now looking for a new challenge: “I’m interested in a range of roles, which could include working for another dealer group, whether small or large, with a manufacturer, perhaps in leasing or as a consultant in helping develop best practice. I’m hugely excited about the future and am already in talks with a number of parties. I’m ready for a new beginning.”

He added: “The market is entering more challenging times and one of my strengths is ensuring that there remains a focus on profitability.”

He explained he was not able to go into details of the departure, owning to a legal agreement.

Inchcape has been subject to some recent management changes, including at the top – James Brearley, former managing director of Pendragon, took over as chief executive in January 2017.
