London to expand ULEZ to M25
07 March 2022
London mayor Sadiq Khan is planning to expand ULEZ across the whole of Greater London. It charges older vehicles £12.50 a day.
October 2021’s ULEZ extension to the North and South circular had a marked impact on the used car market as consumers rushed to switch into newer, ULEZ-qualifying, cars. The proposed, much larger zone, is expected to have an even greater impact on the used car market – not just within the M25, but for anyone living just outside London.
The new ULEZ, if approved, would go live next year. Charges would not include the M25 itself and the mayor’s office claims 82.5% of vehicles in outer London are already ULEZ-compliant.
Last year’s expanded zone reportedly raised less money than expected for Transport for London.
