Volvo to use Amazon for test drive bookings
23 May 2018
Amazon subscribers will be able to book a Volvo test drive at minimal notice under a new initiative between the two firms.
Available for Amazon Prime customers in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh on selected weekends in June and July, the test drive bookings are available on the Volvo V40 with deliveries to the customer’s home or office.
Under the arrangement, which uses the tech-giant’s Prime Now ultra-fast delivery service, customers can depending on availability book a test drive giving as little as an hour’s notice.
While Volvo isn’t offering click-to-buy through Amazon, the 45 minute test drive will be accompanied by a Volvo trained expert who will pass on the driver’s details to the local retailer should the customer wish to progress to a purchase. As part of this process, the customer will be promised a response from the retailer within an hour.
Jon Wakefield, managing director, Volvo Car UK, said: “At Volvo Cars, we aim to make people’s lives easier. Our ‘Prime Now test drive’ offer does just that, allowing potential customers to try our V40 on their terms and in familiar surroundings.
“We’re proud to team up with Amazon to deliver this unique initiative, the first of its kind in the UK and the latest in a range of offerings from Volvo designed to take the hassle out of running a car.”
The whole sign-up process takes just a few minutes. Using their mobile device or desktop, Amazon customers simply enter their postcode on the dedicated ‘Amazon Prime Now Test Drive’ webpage at www.amazon.co.uk/volvo, select their location and choose an available time slot. A fully trained operative will then bring the car straight to their door.
