Arnold Clark in latest gender pay gap stats
07 January 2018
Government figures have shown that women are paid on average 10.9% less than male colleagues in some of the UK’s leading businesses. The new figures include stats from the UK’s largest dealer group Arnold Clark.
The statistics from more than 500 large firms include fashion group Phase Eight, where women’s pay is 65% lower than men’s, while at Easyjet, women earn 52% less than men. The average of the 527 companies in the data shows that men receive 10.9% more than women when comparing average hourly pay.
However, in a few cases, the figures show a gap in favour of women. These include Cambridgeshire Police, where women earn 13% more, Unilever UK, where women earn 9% more than men and at Evans Cycles, women earn 6.5% more.
The only auto retail group included in the figures, to date, is Arnold Clark, along with its subsidiary Arnold Clark Finance. This showed men are paid 14.6% more for their average per hour pay than women. But, at the finance company, women earn 5.2% more than men.
By April, all UK companies with 250 or more employees must publish details of the salary difference between male and female and staff and produce an annual report on the gap. The Government has said it is committed to eliminating the gender pay gap within a generation.
