PSA takes control of Go Vauxhall

PSA has begun integrating Go Vauxhall, the manufacturer-owned retail group, into its own Peugeot Citroen Retail with the appointment of James Weston as chief executive.

Mr Weston is already the chief executive of Peugeot Citroen Retail, a position he took up in September 2016. but will now head-up both groups.

The move follows PSA’s purchase of Vauxhall and Opel from GM last year.

Auto Retail Network understands that while Go Vauxhall managing director Bob Quirk is still currently working for the group, an announcement about the management structure of  Go Motor Retailing which trades as Go Vauxhall is expected soon.

Also joining Go Vauxhall is Simon Lawrence, finance and group strategy director of Peugeot Citroen Retail UK.

Go Motor Retailing has nine Vauxhall franchises while Peugeot Citroen Retail has 47 franchises across the Peugeot, Citroen and DS brands.

The move is part of PSA’s efficiency plan for Vauxhall and Opel, dubbed Pace.

A spokesman for Go Vauxhall said: “The appointments signal the start of an exciting new chapter for Go which has very successfully integrated five companies for Vauxhall in five years.

“These appointments signal just part of the Pace plan launched by Opel Vauxhall in November 2017 to immediately unleash the Vauxhall performance in the UK and pave the way to a sustainable future.

“Going forward, the new leadership team will be in a strong position to consider how best to respond strategically to the evolving UK market and start to shape the next successful chapter for the business.”
