New boss at Renault UK

  01 February 2013

Renault UK has announced the appointment of a new managing director. Ken Ramirez will replace Thierry Sybord with effect from today (February 1) and will take over management of the Renault, Dacia and Renault ZE brands.

Ramirez was previously managing director of Nissan Latin America and the Caribbean, responsible for all of the Nissan and Infiniti brand operations in the region, covering 37 countries. He joined Nissan in 2002 following more than 10 years at Motorola’s Automotive Electronics and Telematics Communications groups.

Meanwhile Sybord has been promoted to an, as-yet, unspecified role within Europe. He will perhaps be best remembered as the managing director who oversaw a radical shake-up in Renault UK in order to try to restore the brand to profitability.

Just over a year ago, Sybord announced he was cutting the Renault car range back to eliminate poor selling models and reducing the retail network by around a third. The company is now targeting a 3% market share.
