September new car registrations slide

Total new car registrations fell 9.3% in September, the first month of the 67-plate, to hit 469,696 units, according to the SMMT.

Retail registrations fell a similar amount, with a decline of 8.8% in September over the same month last year. The declines bring the 2017 year-to-date total to 2.07 million, down 3.9% on the first nine months of 2016. Fleet registrations for the month fell 10.1%.
